Students

Always went for the big change?

Companies that want to be successful tomorrow must cultivate aspiring talent today. So we have a number of options for people still working towards a degree.

Whichever one is right for you, it will give you the chance to put your theoretical knowledge to practical use and gain valuable insights into the world of a global company. As well as making a difference, you’ll make contacts, gain practical experience and could well earn some money at the same time.

Outgoing and creative with a strong team ethic? About to complete, or already completed, the first four semesters of your degree? Then you could be one of the 400 or so interns we welcome into all our business areas at our Darmstadt site every year.

At Merck, you can decide how long your internship should be: anywhere from eight weeks to one year is possible. The longer the better of course – as the more you get to know us, the more interesting and challenging the tasks you will be responsible for.

You'll have our active support throughout your entire internship. After a tour of our Darmstadt site where you'll learn a great deal about the company as a whole, you'll pick up valuable practical experience in an international environment by doing a responsible job right from the start. At the same time, you'll benefit from professional mentoring plus the chance to network with your peers and other colleagues. This includes monthly meetings at a local pub with other Merck students to share experiences and make new contacts.

Do well and we'll encourage you to stay in touch through our Student Excellence Program (STEP).

Although we do accept applications at short notice, our internships are very popular. So please apply six months in advance if possible.

Practical experience makes entry-level employees all the more valuable. That’s why a degree thesis that investigates a specific situation in a company can truly open doors – either into Merck or another organization. So let’s discuss your ideas for a topic or, alternatively, apply for one of our offers. Please plan at least three months for the thesis.
